Today's rambling: My last gerbil :( Written on Wednesday, Jul. 07, 2004 at 11:31 p.m. while feeling a bit
I think it was my lucky penny that made the dinner thing with Dad go okay. :P Unfortunately, it didn't work very well when trying to give medicine to my gerbil. In fact, I think the luck just turned around and went really, really bad.
One minute, I was trying to get her to drink, and the next she just went really still. I knew at that point that she was about to die, but I never expected what happened next. She literally flew out of my hand with one great twitch of her body, and the next thing I know she's just laying there really stiffly, her mouth opening as wide as it would go as she gasped for air.
I held her in disbelief, and then all of a sudden I just started wailing. I'm pretty sure I sounded like something out of a movie, with all that loud sobbing. I never even cried that loud when RELATIVES died. But then again, I never saw my relatives suffer like that, either. Wow. That was the most unbelievable thing I've ever witnessed before. I guess on the one hand, it was good that I was there with her when she died, but on the other hand...it wasn't something I ever wanted to see.
Anyway, enough with THIS happy news, right? ;) I'm going to finish my dress. Or at least finish some more of it. I am SO good at this "finishing at the last minute" thing!
