Oo, listen to how absolutely perfect this one is:

The Writers of the Future Contest is open to amateur writers. Your entry must be a new short story or novelette with a science fiction, fantasy, horror or speculative fiction theme, that has not been previously published.

Granted, this would require that I actually write AND finish something (original, no less...I've gotten too used to writing fan fiction), but it's the most interesting award I've ever heard of! Most of them are those boring "tell us what contributions you've made to your community" essay thingers...And the most I've contributed to my community is exhaled carbon dioxide for the plants and trees. Hehe, wonder if anyone's ever tried that line before....

Anyway, Diary, I had to share the news with you. Now I'm going to go back to signing up for stuff...I need all the money I can get! :oP
