Today's rambling: Death of Envy

Just a quick note to announce:

I will never again use Envy.nu to host webpages.

Why, you ask? After all, at one time I would have sworn by this place!

Well, I'll tell you. I signed in tonight, for the first time after a week or more, and saw that one of the pages I'd created--Roosevelt's memorial page--was gone. Vanished. And I KNOW it had been created, because I remember looking at it after I'd saved it and getting watery-eyed all over again!

So now it's gone, and I don't have it in me to make another page. Yes, sometimes these free webhosting places will lose data, but given Envy's general unreliability in the past months, I'm just completely fed up.

Therefore, as soon as I have some more free time, I will be switching my pages over to Geocities. They, at least, have always proved reliable (even if they ARE part of Yahoo now), and unless I can find something even more reliable, I will continue to use Geocities.

So pox on you, Envy, your service has started to suck! I hope you don't expect users to pay you, because frankly, at this point, you're not worth it! :oP
