Today's rambling: Famous people! Ooo...

while feeling a bit
The current mood of Berry at www.imood.com

I can actually say that I was somewhat happy to go to work today! Mostly so that I wouldn't have to be stuck here at the house. I felt so bad for Pierre, though, here all alone...

Anyway, Mom had to work this morning at 7:30 so I came in with her and sat in the back room for a little while. But I'd found out beforehand that I was going to be working in the decorator's section all day, which thrilled me! I'm getting so sick of baking and packaging bread. It's so BORING! So I got to make coconut and chocolate fudge cakes today. Hehe...I know, so exciting.

Heather, the "specialist" (as she's called) came in again this afternoon, and I'd basically been dreading it because all she does is walk around and ask about why this shelf is so empty, and why isn't this done, and blah blah blah. You wouldn't exactly know it to look at her, because she's young and pretty and friendly-looking enough, but she can be really snobby sometimes. Not mean, but she has this air about her that seems to say "I am above you."

But today she was really nice to me! We started talking about how I had to move (she actually sounded interested in adopting Pierre at one point), and then I asked her about the cakes that I'd made earlier that day. Well, I asked her how to do them, because in the display picture they look so perfect and pretty (of course), and Joanne had told me that Heather was usually the one who made the cakes for those pictures. Turns out, she doesn't do that anymore, but instead of just sort of telling me how it was done, she actually offered to show me how to make some of them!

I got out a box of carrot cake, and she helped me set them up so that she could show me how to decorate them and everything...I know this all sounds stupid, but it was really neat for me because no one has ever offered to show me how to decorate. I mean, Joanne will show me little things if I get caught up on something, but generally I have to follow pictures and that doesn't help all the time. What I want is to be able to actually LEARN, to have someone there saying, "Okay, try this," and then watch me to correct mistakes or whatever.

So I think I'd actually like Heather to come back again soon! She didn't end up getting to help me today after all--John and Zenon both started talking to her about other stuff--but she came up to me later and apologized for not being able to help, so that was nice.

Geoff came in at 3:30. I hadn't intended on running into him, but as I was walking out of the back room he was walking toward the back room, checking things in the freezer case as he went. He looked up and saw me, but it didn't register who I was so he looked back to the case...then almost immediately looked back up again and exclaimed, "Amber!"

I left half an hour later. I didn't seek him out to say good-bye. Decided that I'm fed up with men in general, and so I'll keep talking to him and all, but I'm not going to go out of my way to invite him to lunch or say bye to him or anything. He doesn't make any effort toward me, after all, which just sounds like disinterest to me! I know he at least likes me as a friend. I'll just settle for that. And who knows--maybe my new aloof demeanor will make him realize that he's madly in love with me. *giggles* Or not...

Frank told me that he's going to come up on Wednesday, and then said that he owed Mom and I since he couldn't come up on Friday. I informed him that he doesn't "owe" us anything, but Frank's stubborn that way and so he still insists upon traveling up here on Wednesday. I still wonder if he'll actually do it.

He also told me today that he doesn't like girls who are as thin as sticks (which is ironic, seeing as he's a walking stick)...then he used that absolutely DETESTABLE statement, "I like girls with a little meat on their bones"...or it was something like that....Ugh, just typing it makes me cringe. I don't know what it is about that statement, but it grinds on me! Maybe it makes me think they're talking about food or something...But getting past my abnormal discomfort, I remember myself thinking at the time, "I hope you're not referring to me"...

Blargh. Did you know that French cows say "meuh"?

Anyway, I was going to go on a feministic rampage...ah yes. Zenon saw this skinny blonde girl and started drooling all over himself (figuratively speaking, thankfully) as he waited on her. Jason, who'd heard about this angel from the tanning booth, went over to a nearby counter and pretended to look elsewhere while really he too was gazing at her. Unflustered, this girl ordered her stuff, then stepped back and chattered on her cell phone. I guess she's used to being gawked at.

I'm used to Zenon and Jason going into testosterone-induced tirades about hot girls, but today Zenon was just getting on my nerves. For like half an hour, he kept saying stuff like, "Aw man, I can't focus anymore!" and other stupid stuff. Finally I was like, "Would you just quit it already?" So vehemently, in fact, that I think I stunned him. *giggles*

But y'know, it's one thing to look at someone and appreciate their good looks or whatever, but it's so disgusting the way they drool all over themselves! Anyway...

Richard Gere (is that how he spells his name?) bought property not too far away from here. Wow, a real live movie star will be living close by! Not that I'll ever see him or anything. I think there are other famous sorts who live around here, but I can't remember who or where. One of the Beatles (or was it two of 'em?) had a house somewhere in either Luray or Page County, Virginia, where my Mom grew up. That would've been cool.

So why can't any members of Queen have houses around here?

I'm running out of stuff to talk about, so I'm going to go. I had a really crappy night of sleep last night, too, since I had to sleep on the floor. So I'll probably end up going to bed early-ish. I ought to pack the rest of my stuff. But I don't see that happening 'til the last conceivable minute.
