Today's rambling: Starting the new year

The current mood of Berry at www.imood.com

2005 arrived in a very uneventful fashion. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? On the one hand, I would enjoy a year where nothing pops up out of nowhere and scares me. But maybe all the bad things are lying in wait, rubbing their hands gleefully at the thought of everything they'll be able to do to me this year.

Then again, I could just be paranoid. (Cue Black Sabbath)

I don't understand why places close early on New Year's Day. First of all, it's technically not a holiday. If anything, everything should OPEN really late, and then stay open to normal business hours. After all, it's New Year's Even when everyone's drinking themselves into a stupor, and nobody wants to go out (to work OR shop) when they've got a hangover. So open things late and then close at normal times. That's how it ought to be.

I was going to buy myself a new purse today, but I couldn't because by the time I'd searched the mall looking for Queen's first album, and then gotten Chinese food for dinner...everything was closed. Not so great. I'm especially upset at not being able to find that CD. I had the biggest urge to listen to that album last night, only to discover that the cassette was not in its case. I have NO idea where it could be now, but I've taken it as a sign to start again on collecting all of their albums in CD form. I have them all on cassette, but cassettes are such an annoyance.

Anyway, I have to work for the next 3 days starting tomorrow, then I get to torture myself at the dentist's office on Wednesday...and then just two more days until I return to Clarion. And realize that I still don't know how I'm going to pay the $1800 rent that's due at the beginning of the semester. :

Yay, 2005...
